Do I Seem Like A Cat Person?
I was talking with someone recently and mentioned my cat had been sick. The look on their face was not one of concern for my cat, but one of "You have a cat!" Now, they didn't exactly say that, but that's what they were thinking. I can tell. So I asked them, "do I look like someone who has a cat?" They said "no, I would have never guessed you were a cat owner."
I wonder, what does a cat person look like. I know cat owners have a bad rap, and some of it is deserved. I watched a Cat Show on TV the other night with Macy and some of those owners they interviewed were nuts. We're not nuts, just relatively normal people who happen to own a cat. What do you think a cat person looks like?

What does a cat person look like?
Mark,
After many years of living with various cats, and observing other cat owners, I have come to the following conclusions about what a cat person looks like:
· Most cat people are usually above average intelligence. This is because cats are very intelligent, somewhat sneaky, and ready in a heartbeat to cause his owner whatever grief he can. Therefore, the real cat person must be very smart to be able to stay ahead of his cat.
· Also, cat people are very good leaders. Again, this is because cats are not inclined to do what their owners want them to do. Therefore, the cat owner has to resort to some rather unusual methods to get the response he wants from his cat. So one can see, good leadership skills are very important if one wants to stay in control.
· Cat people have that special ability to look beneath the surface when dealing with other people. This comes from trying to figure out what in the world the cat is thinking. This in itself is extremely difficult, but after many years of living with a cat, one can begin to pick up on some of the ways that his cat is behaving and why. This characteristic comes in handy in dealing with difficult people. This is why cat people are such good leaders.
· Living with a cat teaches one the fine art of patience. Seeing a cat stalk its prey, one knows what I mean.
· Also, cats can be very discriminating. They seem to know who will like them and who will not. This ability can come in very handy in the many inter-personal relationships one finds himself in. Again, this figures very well in leadership.
· Cat people are very perceptive. This comes from just trying to stay ahead of an also perceptive cat. Simply called, it’s the survival of the fittest.
I hope this helps you to picture in your mind what a cat-person looks like. However, you already know each of these characteristics because you embody them in your own life.
Love, Dad
Mark,
Wow, I was going to make some snide remark about how much I hate cats (yours included) until I read your Dad's post. So now I won't, even though I have. What a special Dad you have!
Peace,
DM
Thanks Dad. Great "cat commentary." You should write a book.
David - you didn't need to say a word, I already know what you are thinking.
